Google to Introduce Its Voice-Activated Home Devic
In another sign that technology will continue to be a key feature in the home of the future, Google is looking to compete with Amazon by launching a voice-activated home device. Named “Google Home,” the device is a virtual agent that answers simple questions and carries out basic tasks. The in-home appliance is something you can use to ask it for information, have it set reminders, and use it to play music. In comparison to Amazon, Google reportedly had a huge head start in terms of voice recognition technology, as well as contextual technology, but its product will not come out until the fall. The device will compete with Amazon’s Echo, which was introduced less than two years ago. Amazon has already sold an estimated three million units.
